About Walsh SRA

Governance & Climate and Sustainability Risk Advisory for Financial Institutions

Walsh SRA was founded to address a persistent governance gap within financial institutions: climate and sustainability-related financial risks are widely acknowledged, but too often remain insufficiently embedded within enterprise risk management, accountability, and board oversight frameworks.

As scrutiny increases from regulators, supervisors, investors, lenders, and boards, weak governance structures can create financial, operational, and reputational exposure.

Walsh SRA helps financial institutions strengthen governance frameworks so boards, CEOs, CROs, and risk leaders can oversee climate and sustainability-related financial risk with clarity, defensibility, and commercial alignment.

About Brendan Walsh

Brendan Walsh is the founder of Walsh SRA and creator of the ARCHITECT™ Governance System for evaluating governance maturity for climate and sustainability-related financial risk within financial institutions.

Brendan brings more than 30 years of global executive leadership experience in financial services, including responsibility for multi-billion-dollar businesses, governance oversight, and regulated operations across the US, Europe, and Asia. He has also served in board and advisory capacities within regulated environments, including the European Retail Payments Board and other governance and regulatory institutions. Across these roles, one insight remained constant:

Sustainability ambition is rarely the core risk.

Weak governance architecture is.

  • Commercial leadership, including multi-billion-dollar P&L responsibility.

  • Regulatory experience operating in highly supervised financial markets.

  • Board-level governance experience.

  • Enterprise risk management expertise.

  • A technology-risk perspective informed by sustainability exposure across digital infrastructure and data ecosystems.

  • A private equity perspective on governance considerations during diligence and value creation.

This experience informed the development of the ARCHITECT™ Governance System, a structured methodology for evaluating governance maturity for climate and sustainability-related financial risk within financial institutions.
